Janiel Jenkins' smile said it all.
The Miller School point guard's dream of playing Division I college basketball came true Friday afternoon as Jenkins signed his letter of intent to attend The Citadel.
"It's a great moment. I worked hard, my dreams came true. Finally going to a Division I school and hopefully go on from there and do well in school," he said.
Jenkins averaged nine points and two assists per game during his two years as a Maverick.
He received offers from Alcorn State, Hartford and Quinnipiac but the allure of playing close to his South Carolina family at The Citadel and fit with the program was too great.
"They said if I come in and work hard right away I could be the starting point guard," Jenkins said. "I've got a lot of family in Charleston so they can come to my games and support me."
