Pair of Mustangs Pick Schools

A pair of Monticello High School basketball players will begin their senior years on Wednesday with their college decisions already made.

Girls basketball coach Josh McElheny confirmed Tuesday night that guard Meghan Comer committed to Mary Washington this week. Comer joins teammate Molly Shephard, who McElheny says committed to Lynchburg earlier this summer.

Comer was an All-Jefferson District first team selection in 2014, after putting up 11.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game for the Mustangs. Comer was an All-JD second team selection as a sophomore in 2013.

Shephard enters her senior year as the two-time reigning Jefferson District player of the year. Shephard averaged 16.1 points and 8.7 rebounds as a junior at Monticello last season.
