After three seasons and a state title as head football coach at Blue Ridge School, Orlando Patterson says it's time to head home.
Patterson confirmed Friday afternoon that he is leaving Blue Ridge at the end of the school year. Patterson said he's accepted a position at his Tabor Academy, his alma mater in Massachusetts.
"I'm just excited to get back up there," Patterson said.
His impending departure was announced to the school's board of trustees on Friday.
Patterson took over the Blue Ridge football program in 2011, and led the Barons to a pair of playoff appearances in his three seasons. In 2012, Patterson led the Barons to a 9-2 season that ended with the VISAA Division II state championship, the program's first state title since 1994.
