Highly-recruited Miller School senior Andrew White says he'll play his college basketball at Kansas.
With his family at his side, White made his announcement late Friday afternoon, prior to Miller School's game against Woodberry Forest.
White said he was also recruited by Richmond, Virginia Tech, NC State, George Mason, Georgetown, and Texas.
"It's been real hectic," White admitted. "There's been a lot of questions, a lot of calls. A lot of time taken. But I'm grateful for it. So I'm just proud that I can be in this position, with great teammates, great family, and to be able to have an option like Kansas is big for me."
The 6-foot-6 White is rated as a four-star recruit by both ESPN and Rivals. ESPN ranks White as the top senior prospect in the state of Virginia, and the No. 51 overall prospect in the Class of 2012.
He averaged 21 points, eight rebounds, and four assists a game as a junior, according to Miller School coach Scott Willard.
White says the Kansas coaches have told him he'll get the chance to compete for playing time as a freshman.
"It makes me feel good, but I know I have to work," he said. "If I were to go there today, I probably wouldn't play a minute. So that just motivates me to work hard, and that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to keep doing my normal, and try to turn it up."
