The Virginia High School League has denied appeals to Fluvanna County High School's boys varsity basketball team and Western Albemarle's girls varsity basketball team after the team admitted to playing junior varsity players during the teams opening round games of the Jefferson District tournament.

Virginia High School League rule 58-2-2 states "When a district sponsors both a postseason junior varsity and a postseason varsity tournament, a player shall be limited to participating in only one of these tournaments.”

The Goochland girls' and Western Albemarle boys' basketball teams will now advance to the semi-finals of the Jefferson District tournament as result of the violation.

The semi-finals will be held at Monticello High School on Wednesday for the girls and Thursday for the boys.

Both the Western Albemarle girls' team and Fluvanna boys' team will still host Region II tournament games later this month.
