Warriors Crack Latest AP Top 10

It took six straight wins to start the season, but the Western Albemarle football team has cracked the Top 10 of latest Associated Press Group AA statewide poll.

The 6-0 Warriors, who snapped Powhatan's 61-game winning streak against district opponents with a 30-10 win in Crozet last Friday, are ranked ninth in the newest AP poll, released Monday. Western hosts Charlottesville in a match-up of 2-0 Jefferson District teams this Friday.

Western joins Buckingham County as local teams ranked in the AP's weekly polls. The Knights are No. 5 in the Group A poll for a second straight week after shutting out Randolph-Henry 48-0 last week. Buckingham travels to 5-1 Central-Lunenburg on Friday.
