Ed Redmond has been pushing all the right buttons in Crozet this season.
The Western Albemarle head coach has his team off to a perfect 6-0 record after snapping reigning Jefferson District champ Powhatan's 61-game district win streak.
"I think as a team we've played hard, we've executed well, we're aligned correctly, have our assignments down and the kids understand their responsibilities," Redmond explained.
But if the Warriors want to make it to 7-0, they'll have to get by a suddenly formidable Charlottesville team. The Black Knights are 2-0 in the JD after beating Fluvanna and Monticello in consecutive weeks.
In recent years the Warriors might have overlooked the Black Knights but with each team still perfect in the JD, Redmond insists his team is focused.
"Charlottesville is very athletic, they're very capable, well-coached. They have solid schemes offensively and defensively and certainly there's no looking behind or looking ahead, we're focused on the target."
"They're a solid team, two District wins, they're fast on the outside so we have to play to our keys, do what the coaches have taught us all week and hopefully we should come out with that win," added senior wide receiver Isiah Cowan.
While Western respects Charlottesville and expects a hard-fought game Friday, the Warriors say they're equally focused on improving themselves.
"We feel like if we go out and do the things that we've been taught to do, it's going to give us a good chance to win in the future and coming up," Cowan said.
