The final VHSL Wells Fargo Cup Standings for the 2012-2013 season were released Wednesday morning and Western Albemarle has plenty of reason to be excited.

The Warriors finished 2nd in the Group AA standings with 337.5 points, just behind winner Blacksburg, a repeat champion.

The Cup is given to the schools in each group classification that achieves the best overall record in 27 sports.

The Warriors' state title in girls swimming, and state tournament runs in girls tennis and lacrosse helped bolster their case.

Other local Group AA finishers include Monticello (26), Charlottesville (39), Louisa County (45) and Fluvanna County (66).

Albemarle (40) and Orange County (60) represented the area in Group AAA while William Monroe (18) and Madison County (44) rounded out the Group A ranks.
