Western Albemarle edged out Monticello, 2-1, to win the Jefferson District Championship Thursday. The Warriors also won the regular season title.
Neither team could push a goal across in the first half but the Warriors struck just 30 seconds into the second half. Tess Lohr got to a loose ball in front of the cage and scored to give Western the 1-0 lead.
Midway through the half the Mustangs tied it up thanks to a Schuyler Thornton backhand.
Lohr proved to be the hero however, as she banged home the winning score on a one-timer with just over three minutes left in regulation to give Western the District Championship.
