The Jefferson District volleyball season is winding down as teams entered the night with just two regular season matches remaining. While the top spot is already locked up, the rest seems to be pretty wide open heading down the stretch.
Western Albemarle kept its district record unblemished with a 3-0 win over Orange. Ana Asher tallied 15 kills on her senior night, while Riley Martin dished out 26 assists. The Warriors are now 19-3 overall, 13-0 in district play and finish up their regular season on Tuesday at Goochland.
Monticello traveled to Louisa and went down to the wire, needing a fifth game to top the Lions, 3-2. Kate Geldmacher led the way with 28 kills and Charlotte Devine added eight aces for the Mustangs. Monticello will finish things up next Tuesday hosting William Monroe.
Charlottesville hosted Fluvanna on Thursday night, with the Flucos cruising to the 3-0 victory. Fluvanna improves to 9-4 on the season and will wrap up its regular season at Louisa on Tuesday.
All eight district teams make the Jefferson District Tournament, which will begin on Thursday at the site of the better seed. The semifinals and finals will be held at Charlottesville on November 2 and November 4. Click on the above video link to view Thursday's action.
