Western Albemarle hasn't fallen from the top of the Jefferson District since winning the title in 2002 and the Warriors were not about to see their streak end this season. Western won the 2010 Jefferson District regular season championship with a 3-1 win over William Monroe on Tuesday night. The Warriors improve to 12-0 in district play and will finish out their district schedule with Orange and Goochland. The Warriors face the Hornets on Thursday and will wrap up the regular season against the Bulldogs next Tuesday.
With the Warriors locking up the top spot, other teams now battle for position and seedings for the Jefferson District Tournament. Monticello still has a good shot at earning the second spot in the playoff and pulled a step closer with a 3-0 win over Charlottesville on Tuesday.
The Jefferson District Tournament will get underway next Thursday, October 28, and the quarterfinals will be played at the home of the better seeded team. The semifinals and championship match will be contested at Charlottesville High School. Click on the above video link to view highlights from Tuesday's action.
