Burger King Student Athlete of the Week: Darcy Alimenti

Monticello High School Senior Darcy Alimenti is our Burger King Student Athlete of the Week. She performs well on the field and in the classroom, but is also an inspiration to those around her.

Alimenti helps lead the Mustang field hockey team as a captain this year. She has scored a couple key goals this season, and her coach says she always is there to pick up her teammates when they are down.

When she's not practicing or playing in games, you can likely find Alimenti studying. Even with a course load that features 5 AP classes, honors physics and an internship, she still boasts a 3.93 unweighted GPA, 4.61 weighted. While she takes pride in getting all A's, she also enjoys learning the material.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about this remarkable young lady though is her ability to deal with adversity. Her brother has been diagnosed with Leukemia and her mother is currently fighting cancer, but through it all, Alimenti continues to maintain a positive attitude. She spends as much time as she can with her mother and is happy to report that her brother is responding well to treatment.
