2010 was a season to remember for Louisa pitcher Johnnie Lowery. He finished the year a perfect 6-0 and helped the Lions win both the Jefferson District regular season and tournament titles. This season, Lowery has stepped up to become the number one starter for the Lions baseball team. He's hoping his Lions can repeat as district champions and he's helping lead the way as a team captain.
"We just gotta step up and we gotta know our role," says Lowery. "When other people make mistakes, we gotta get on them, and then when they make good plays, we gotta congratulate them."
Lowery is a leader in the classroom as well. He has a 3.96 GPA and ranks 38th out of 380 members of his senior class.
"My parents have always stressed that academics come before sports," says Lowery. "I love baseball but, like our coaches stress too, you gotta do well in school to be able to do well on the field."
Lowery plans on attending James Madison, Virginia Tech or Christopher Newport in the fall.
