Western Albemarle's Seana Acker is a co-captain for the Warriors swim team and helped guide the girls' squad to back-to-back VHSL crowns.
And that's not all.
In Seana's career, the team is undefeated in dual meets and winners of each Jefferson District and Region II championship.
"I really think the secret is just our team, we work really well together, we step up under pressure. we have great coaches, we just work really well."
This past season, Seana placed in two individual events and two relays at the VHSL meet in Christiansburg. Despite suffering a sever illness the night before, Seana finished top 8 in both the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke. In the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays, Seana helped the Warriors to a pair of silver medals.
"She's very understated," said Western head coach Dan Bledsoe. "She's doesn't like to give herself any accolades or any real credit for the success of the team but she has to understand, we're not state champions the past two years without her."
Seana is in the top 10% of her senior class and will swim next year for Towson University. In her free time, she volunteers with her local youth group and is a member of several community clubs at school. Seana has also served as a swimming coach for a summer swim league and the Special Olympics.
"It shows the other kids that doing everything is possible if you set your priorities right," said Bledsoe. "For Seana her priorities were to give back to the community, do well academically and do well in the pool."
Next weekend, Seana will compete at a national meet in North Carolina with her club swim team, CYAC.
