Cavs Top Pitt with First Quarter Frenzy

"Strike early and strike often": that might be the new motto of the Cavaliers offense. In their current four game winning streak, the 'Hoos have scored on their first two drives of each game, and have outscored opponents in the first quarter 72-9.

Saturday night the Cavaliers had their most explosive quarter of the Al Groh era, dropping 27 points on the Pittsburgh Panthers in the first 15 minutes of the game.

Jameel Sewell threw three touchdown passes in a row, the first to Jonathan Stupar. The second was to Tom Santi. Santi leads the team with 17 catches and three touchdowns on the year.

The Panthers would fumble the ensuing kickoff, and the Cavs would take advantage, as Sewell finds Rashawn Jackson for the score.

The Cavs weren't done after a 45-yard Vic Hall punt return, the Cavs drive 21 yards, capped by the first of Cedric Peerman's two touchdowns.
