Cavalier defensive end Chris Long is one of four finalists for the Lott Trophy, presented to college football's Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year. The honor judges the athlete's performance both on and off the field, and is the only award that is partly based on personal character.
Long leads the ACC with 14 sacks, and leads Virginia with 19 tackles for loss and 22 quarterback hurries. He was honored twice this season as ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week, and is also a finalist for the Lombardi and Nagurski Awards.
The other three finalists are LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey, Ohio State linebacker James Laurinaitis and Illinois linebacker J Leman. The award will be presented on December 9 in Newport Beach, California.
