The Virginia Men's Basketball Team will look to rebound from its first loss of the season, as it welcomes Northwestern to John Paul Jones Arena. The match up is part of the annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
This marks the third time in the last four years that Virginia and the Wildcats are meeting as part of this event. In 2004, the Cavaliers won in Evanston, 48-44, and then beat Northwestern the following year at University Hall, 72-57. Virginia had some trouble in the early going of that 2005 contest, trailing by a point at the half. Sean Singletary, then a sophomore, led all scorers with 23 points.
The Wildcats enter with a 1-3 record, after falling to Brown on Saturday, and will look to get back on the right track against a Cavalier squad that is 5-1, and fell out of this week's top 25. Northwestern starts three freshmen, led by leading scorer Michael Thompson, who averages 15.3 points per game.
The Cavaliers will look to Sean Singletary, who has scored 23 points or more in four of Virginia's six games. Adrian Joseph has also stepped up his game, achieving double figures in rebounding in each of the last three games, headlined by a career high 16 boards in Saturday's loss to Seton Hall.
Tuesday night's match up is set to tip off at 7:00 at John Paul Jones Arena, and marks the first of six consecutive home games for the Cavaliers. Tune into CBS19 News at Eleven and ABC16 News Nightcast for complete highlights and reaction.
