Cavalier sophomore Monica Wright is this week's ACC Co-Player of the Week, along with Maryland's Crystal Langhorne. Wright was key is leading Virginia to a 2-0 week, and has been an integral part of the Cavaliers streak of winning five of their last six games.
Wright had a career night against Wisconsin on Friday, tying her career high with 27 points to lead Virginia to an ACC/ Big Ten Challenge win over the Badgers. She came back to score 17 in yesterday's 85-35 win against Farleigh Dickinson. Wright averaged 22 points per game for the week.
The sophomore guard is currently second on the Cavaliers in scoring, averaging 16.8 points per game, and leads the team with 21 steals. While she was ACC Rookie of the Week eight times a season ago, this marks her first conference Player of the Week award.
Wright and the Cavaliers return to action on Wednesday night, as they travel to Hartford to face second ranked Connecticut in a rematch of last year's contest at John Paul Jones Arena. The Huskies took that contest, 96-60. Tip off for Wednesday's game is at 7:00.
