The Cavalier Men's Basketball Team resumes its schedule tomorrow night, as it welcomes Hampton to John Paul Jones Arena. Tip off for action is set for 7:00.
This marks a rematch of last season's December 16 game in Charlottesville that saw the Cavs dominate the Pirates, 91-69. The contest, however, was overshadowed by Dave Leitao's first career ejection, which came with 4:43 remaining in the first half. Rob Lanier took over and led Virginia the rest of the way. Sean Singletary paced the Wahoos with 27 points in that win, and currently leads the Cavaliers in scoring, averaging 19.3 points per game.
Hampton enters the contest with a 5-4 record. The Pirates have played big opponents tough so far this season, most notably Maryland, a team that was only able to defeat the Pirates, 70-64. Hampton enters on a hot streak, having won four of its last five contests, most recently defeating St. Bonaventure to push its record above the .500 mark.
Virginia, meanwhile, enters with a 7-2 record, and is coming off a 76-57 win against Longwood on December 7. Prior to that, the Cavaliers suffered only their second loss ever at John Paul Jones Arena, falling to Syracuse, 70-68, on December 5.
