Virginia Women Out to Fast ACC Start

The Cavalier Women's Basketball Team got its ACC schedule off on the right foot yesterday, taking down Wake Forest, 69-50. Virginia improves to 11-4 overall with the win, and starts its conference campaign out 1-0.

Monica Wright had one of the best all around performances of the season, scoring 26 points, while adding nine rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Aisha Mohammed and Enonge Stovall each posted double figures in scoring, as well. Mohammed posted her sixth double-double of the season with 14 points and eleven rebound, while Stovall added ten points and six boards. The Cavaliers improved to 59-2 all time against the Demon Deacons.

Virginia returns home for three contests now, beginning with its second to last non-conference game on Wednesday. The Cavaliers welcome Rhode Island to John Paul Jones Arena for a 7:00pm contest. The Wahoos get back to conference play on Sunday, as Virginia Tech comes to Charlottesville, before Maryland visits next Friday.
