The Cavalier men's basketball team lost in overtime Wednesday night to Virginia Tech, 70-69. It was the Hokies first win in Charlottesville since the 1969-70 season. Sean Singletary hit two free throws in overtime and made a steal and fed Adrian Joseph for a layup at the other end in the overtime, giving the Cavaliers a 69-64 lead. The Cavs did not score in the final three and a half minutes. With four seconds left in overtime, Deron Washington hit a driving layup to give the Hokies the final basket of the night.
It's the third straight loss for the Cavaliers and only the third loss inside John Paul Jones Arena. The Cavs fall to 0-2 in the ACC. Sean Singletary hit a season high 34 points. Adrian Joseph was the only other player for Virginia to score in double figures with eleven points.
The Cavs return to action Saturday night when they host Boston College.
