The University of Virginia football program issued a release Thursday evening stating that starting quarterback Jameel Sewell is one of four players not currently enrolled for the spring semester.
Sources tell CBS19 that Sewell may not return to the Cavalier football program as his academic status could keep him from coming back. The NCAA sites that when a player is academically ineligible, they cannot participate for two semesters. With Sewell not even enrolled during the spring semester, the Richmond native's return does not seem like a realistic possiblity. Jameel Sewell was in Charlottesville as late as Wednesday night, as he was sitting behind Virginia's bench at the men's basketball game, just a few seats down from Sean Singletary's family.
