Lyndra Littles scored 20 points and pulled down nine rebounds as the Cavalier Women's Basketball Team topped Miami tonight, 79-68. The win improves Virginia's record to 14-5, 3-1 in the ACC.
The Wahoos were slow out of the gate, trailing by as many as 14 in the first half, but cut the deficit to ten by halftime. Virginia had one of its worst frames of the season, committing 19 turnovers in the first half.
The second half was a different story, as the Cavaliers outscored the Hurricanes by 21 points, and put up 53 in the half. Virginia started the frame on a 14-4 run to tie it up at 40, and then built off the momentum.
In addition to Littles, several other Cavaliers had big nights. Monica Wright scored 17 points, while Aisha Mohammed scored 16, while pulling down seven boards.
The victory moves Virginia into a third place tie in the ACC. Both the Cavaliers and Duke hold 3-1 conference records. Virginia will be back in action on Saturday, as the Wahoos battle Florida State. Tip off is set for 7:00.
