The Virginia Cavaliers fell in overtime to Georgia Tech on Sunday, 92-82. Calvin Baker and Mamadi Diane each scored 16 points for the Cavaliers.
With the loss, the Cavs quickly fall to the ACC basement with a 1-4 record. Today's defeat was their fifth in the past six games, and second in a row.
Virginia led the entire first half and held a 10 point lead into intermission. However, Georgia Tech opened the second half with a 10-2 run, and would tie the game at 55.
Virginia trailed by two with 10 seconds to go in regulation, but Sean Singletary tied the game with an acrobatic floater. The game was sent into overtime, tied at 76.
In the extra frame, Georgia Tech's Matt Causey scored 12 points, nine in a row at one point, as the Yellow Jackets pulled away from the Cavaliers for the win.
Sean Singletary had his 500th career assist in the game, becoming the fifth player in ACC history to have 1,500 points, 500 assists and 400 rebounds in a career (Johnny Dawkins of Duke, Danny Ferry of Duke, Brian Oliver of Georgia Tech, and Tony Akins of Georgia Tech)
The Cavaliers travel to Maryland on Wednesday.
