Sean Singletary has been the face of the Cavalier Men's Basketball Team for the last three seasons, and is continuing to shine in his final year with the program. Despite battling a hip pointer as of late, Singletary is third in the ACC in scoring, and leads the team with 18.1 points per game.
The senior guard is now one of 30 players on the Naismith Award midseason list, which goes to the country's top college player. He is one of six ACC players on the list, which includes North Carolina’s Wayne Ellington, Tyler Hansbrough and Ty Lawson, Duke’s Demarcus Nelson and Boston College’s Tyrese Rice.
He also surpassed another milestone during Sunday's overtime loss to Georgia Tech. Singletary became just the fifth player in conference history to score 1,500 points, dish out 500 assists, and pull down 400 rebounds in a career. He joins Duke's Johnny Dawkins and Danny Ferry, and Georgia Tech's Brian Oliver and Tony Akins as the only ACC players to accomplish that feat.
Singletary has scored in double figures in 40 consecutive games, and leads the conference in assists. He and the Cavaliers will battle Maryland tomorrow at the Comcast Center. Tip off is set for 7:00.
