Playing without two of their best players, the Virginia Men's Tennis team proved Sunday they are one of the deepest in the country. The No. 1 ranked Cavaliers defeated No. 51 Harvard, 6-1. The 'Hoos remain undefeated with a 7-0 record.
Somdev Devvarman, the nation's top-ranked singles player, and Dominic Inglot, ranked No. 3, did not play. Devvarman went to play for India in the Davis Cup, and Inglot was resting a sore arm.
The win extended the Cavaliers’ home winning streak to 21 matches, setting a new school record.
Virginia Head Coach Brian Boland said, "We have a great deal of depth on our roster and it showed this weekend. We were without Somdev and Dom, but both will be back for us next weekend in Seattle. The guys who stepped into the lineup played well. We have played eight deep in our lineup all season and will continue to do so.”
The Cavs travel to Seattle Friday for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
