Fresh off its 11-7 win against Drexel on Sunday, the Cavalier men's lacrosse team will play its home opener tomorrow, as it welcomes Stony Brook to Klockner Stadium. Virginia has taken on the Seawolves in each of the last two seasons, defeating them both times.
Stony Brook enters this match up with experience on its side, returning five of its seven leading goal scorers from a year ago. Cavalier head coach Dom Starsia points out the experience as something that will play to the Seawolves' advantage, but that his team will do its best to handle. This is Stony Brook's season opener.
The Cavaliers, meanwhile, will be without returning All-American attack Ben Rubeor for the second straight game. Rubeor continues to nurse an ankle injury, and is day-to-day. He sat out the season opener against Drexel, as well.
Starsia says he likes what he saw in the team's season opener against the Dragons. Virginia scored four unanswered second half goals to power past Drexel, a team that upset the then-top ranked Cavaliers in last year's season opener.
Face off for tomorrow's match up is set for 1:00 at Klockner Stadium.
