Chris Long is projected to be a top five pick on every draft board, and many say that he very well could be the top pick. Long had the chance to show off his skills at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis today.
The 272 pound defensive lineman had an excellent showing, clocking 4.71 in the 40 yard dash, and 34 inches in the vertical jump. He took part in several defensive drills with flawless execution, and showed agility and speed that back up his high projection.
Long is also experimenting with linebacker drills, which he did not take part in during the combine, but says that he will work with Al Groh in Charlottesville on them prior to pro timing day in March.
The former Cavalier put together a phenomenal senior season, posting 14 sacks and 19 tackles for loss, good enough for ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors. His sacks total was good enough for third in the nation.
The NFL Draft will take place on April 26-27 in New York City. Click on the above video link to view parts of Long's workout today, and hear reaction from the former Cavalier.
