Garrett Billings scored three goals and Peter Lamade dished out three assists, as the Cavalier men's lacrosse team topped Vermont, 15-4. The win improves Virginia's record to 3-0.
The game was close throughout the first quarter, as the Catamounts pulled the score to 3-2 after the Cavs scored three quick goals out of the gate. Virginia added to its total, though, heading into the intermission with a 6-2 lead. The Cavaliers proceeded to score six goals in the third quarter as part of a 9-1 run to seal the victory.
In all, ten Cavaliers found the back of the net, led by Billings three. This marked the first ever meeting between Virginia and Vermont. The Catamounts were led by former Cavalier All-American Ryan Curtis, who won a national championship with Virginia in 1999. He and Vermont fall to 0-2 on the season.
The third ranked Cavaliers head to Baltimore to face Syracuse on Saturday at M&T Bank Stadium. Face off is set for noon.
