A piece of Virginia history was overshadowed by a second-consecute offensive outburst Friday at Davenport Field, as the Cavaliers rolled over Siena, 17-2. Pitcher Jacob Thompson notched his 23rd career win, setting a school record. The ace pitched seven innings, striking out ten, and giving up just four hits and one unearned run.
The Virginia bats came alive again, as the 'Hoos have dropped 44 runs over the past two games. Greg Miclat led the way, going 3-for-5, with 5 RBI and three runs. The 'Hoos had a six-run fourth inning and a three-run fifth.
The Cavs have recorded 11 or more hits in five straight games.
Virginia plays twice Saturday. The Cavaliers take on Cornell at noon, then battle Siena in a rematch at 3 p.m.
