The UVa baseball team improves to 9-0 on Saturday sweeping the double-header at Davenport Field. It's the Cavaliers best start to the season since 1924.
In the first game, the Cavaliers defeated Cornell 12-2. David Adams went 4-for-4 and batted in five runs. Jeremy Farrell hit a two run homerun in the bottom of the second to put the Cavs up 3-0. Pat McAnaney threw six strong innings and struck out a career-high 11 batters. Jake Rules threw three scoreless innings to notch his first save at Virginia.
The Cavs defeated Siena 7-4 in the second game of the double-header. Andrew Carraway threw five innings, allowing three runs, and striking out six. Phil Gosselin went 3-for-4 and Jeremy Farrell hit another two-run homerun for Virginia. The Cavs improve to 9-0 on the season. They wrap up their 10-game homestand on Sunday against Cornell.
