Last night's 96-85 loss to Bradley overshadowed a pretty big positive for the Virginia men's basketball team. Freshman Jeff Jones scored 26 points in the win, showing the Cavaliers and their fans what the future may hold.
Jones shot 9-14 from the floor, including 6-8 from three point range. His 26 points are a career high, and the most scored by one of Dave Leitao's recruits at Virginia. His six three pointers eclipse the number of threes that he had in all 19 previous home games combined (3), and his eight three pointers in the three CBI games match his total from the entire season.
The freshman guard will look to be one of the key players next year that can help fill the void left by the departure of Sean Singletary. Singletary said after the loss to Bradley that Jones will be the face of the program in the near future.
