The No. 2 Duke Blue Devils broke a 9-9 tie with 10 unanswered goals to hand the No. 3 Cavaliers a 19-9 loss Saturday night. The loss is Virginia’s first ever night loss at Klöckner after 21 consecutive wins dating back to 1993, and came in front of a school-record 8,000 fans.
Virginia (10-2, 1-2 ACC) was led by Ben Rubeor's two goals. Duke's Max Quinzani scored a career-high seven goals.
The Blue Devils led 9-4 in the third quarter, but Virginia scored five straight to tie the game at nine with 8:31 left in the quarter. That was the final time they scored, as Duke took the lead for good.
The Cavaliers host Dartmouth on April 19th.
