The Virginia men's lacrosse team finds itself three wins away from its second NCAA title in the last three seasons. The Cavaliers will face Maryland on Saturday in quarterfinal action, and will do so in Annapolis, where fans are expected to flood Marine Corps Stadium.
Navy is the host to two quarterfinal games, all of which hail from either Maryland or Virginia. In addition to the Cavaliers and Terrapins, Navy and Johns Hopkins will take the field in Annapolis at 3:00. With the close proximity of each of the teams, it promises to be an exciting lacrosse atmosphere, one that the Cavs are looking forward to.
This will mark the third meeting between these two squads this season. Maryland won the regular season meeting in College Park, 13-7, with Virginia getting some revenge in the ACC semifinals with a 11-8 victory. This will mark the fifth time that these two clubs are meeting in the NCAA Tournament, with the Terps holding a 3-1 advantage in such games, but the Cavaliers took the latest tournament battle, winning the 2003 national semifinal en route to a national title.
