Adam Nelson is putting the finishing touches on his preparations for the United States Olympic Trials, which take place next weekend in Eugene, Oregon. Nelson is a native of Georgia, who just finished up graduate work at the University of Virginia.
Nelson has a solid shot at earning a spot in Beijing. The top three finishers at the trials earn the chance to represent the USA in the Olympics, but Nelson is on pace to do much better than just place in the top three. On June 7th at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Nelson tossed a world best 22.12 meters, or 72 feet, seven inches. He will hope to better that next weekend.
Nelson plans on departing for Eugene on Tuesday, and will compete on Friday in qualifying, and then again on Saturday in the finals. CBS19 will keep you posted as to how Nelson fares in the trials.
