Virginia Women Shut Out Miami 2-0

September 28, 2008

The Virginia women's soccer team closed out its Florida road trip with a second consecutive shutout, beating Miami 2-0 in Coral Gables.

The Cavaliers took the lead early in the game when Meghan Lenczyk found the back of the net in the 10th minute. It was her team-leading eighth goal of the season. Later in the half, Virginia got on the board again when Alli Fries headed in a corner kick from Amanda Stewart. Those two goals would turn out to be more than enough for Goalkeeper Celeste Miles and the UVa defense. Miles had three saves on the way to her sixth shutout on the season.

With the win, Virginia moves to 2-0-0 in ACC play. The Cavaliers return to Klockner Stadium to take on NC State Thursday in their home ACC opener. Kickoff is set for 7 pm.
