Wake Forest Shuts Out Virginia

November 2, 2008

The Virginia women's soccer team could not find the back of the net for the second straight game and fell to Wake Forest 1-0 on Senior Day.

Neither team could get any offense going in the first half, but the Demon Deacons were able to get on the board in the 60th minute. Allie Sadow sent a cross into Amy Smerdzinski, who one-timed a shot for the goal. From there, the Wake Forest defense was able to hold Virginia's offense at bay.

The Cavaliers end the regular season on a three game winless streak, finishing up with an overall record of 12-4-2, 6-3-1 in the ACC. The ACC Tournament bracket will be announced Monday with games beginning on Wednesday in Cary, NC.
