The Virginia football team faces a Clemson team that has fallen well short of expectations in 2008. The Tigers come in with a 5-5 record, after being the preseason favorite to win the ACC.

Clemson is 3-4 in the conference, but has the play makers to be a good team. Quarterback Cullen Harper leads the ACC in passing yards, and was the conference's preseason Player of the Year. His favorite target is senior Aaron Kelly, who recently set the all time ACC record for receptions. James Davis and CJ Spiller provide a duo at running back that is difficult to contain.

Al Groh knows the potential of the Tigers, and is quick to point out that some of their struggles can be attributed to bad breaks. Clemson also had a changing of the guard at head coach, as Tommy Bowden was let go earlier in the year.
