Virginia Football Assistant Head Coach Bob Pruett announced his retirement from coaching on Wednesday ending a career that was 44 years in the making.

In 1965, Pruett began his coaching at the high school level, then 18 years later joined current UVa head coach Al Groh's coaching staff while he was at Wake Forest. With the Demon Deacons, Pruett served as defensive backs coach before eventually serving as defensive coordinator. After his stint at Wake, he coached at Mississippi, Tulane, Florida, and served as head coach at Marshall.

Last February, Pruett rejoined Al Groh as defensive coordinator before being named assistant head coach in December.
