The Cavalier men's lacrosse team puts its 12-0 record and number one national ranking on the line on Saturday against a team that has had its number in recent years. Virginia travels down to Durham to face eighth ranked Duke, a team that has won the last five meetings between these two teams.
The Blue Devils enter with an 8-3 record, 1-1 in the ACC, after topping North Carolina and falling to Maryland. The Devils have also won six of their last seven contests. When it comes to facing Virginia, Duke has dominated. Not since a 13-4 win in 2004 have the Cavaliers be able to handled the Blue Devils. The two teams met in the ACC Championship game the last two years, with Duke winning both, including an 11-9 triumph in 2008.
Virginia is coming off three consecutive one goal wins as it heads down to Durham. The Cavs topped Johns Hopkins, 16-15, then followed that up with a dramatic and epic 10-9 win over Maryland in seven overtimes. Last week, the Cavaliers knocked off North Carolina, 11-10.
Face off on Saturday is set for 4:00pm. We'll have much more on this contest throughout the remainder of the week.
