The Cavalier baseball team capped off a four game road trip in a big way, rolling past Virginia Commonwealth, 8-1. With the win, Virginia improves to 31-8-1.

The Cavaliers received a big offensive boost from freshman Steven Proscia. The third baseman went 2-for-5 at the plate with a grand slam and five RBI. Danny Hultzen also provided a spark at the plate, going 2-4 with an RBI. John Hicks and David Coleman also had multiple hit games, tallying two hits each.

On the mound, Matt Packer had an exceptional start. Packer tossed five innings of shutout baseball, allowing just two hits, striking out six, and walking just one batter. Robert Poutier and Neal Davis combined to give up just one run over the final four innings.

Virginia returns to Davenport Field to kick off a nine game home stand on Wednesday. The Cavaliers battle Georgetown at 6:30pm.
