Any casual fan who walked into Davenport Field Wednesday evening would think Virginia would have no problem taking care of Georgetown who only has 11 wins this season. It was not the case. After a solo homerun by Jarrett Parker to give the Cavs a 1-0 lead, Georgetown's Sean Lamont responded. He took a Will Roberts hanging breaking ball and sent it to the seats in the HooZone in left field.
That lead held for the Hoyas until the bottom of the fifth, when Sophomore Phil Gosselin unleashed a three run bomb of his own. The Cavs took a 4-3 lead at that point but were far from finished. Virginia had it's biggest run outburst in the seventh inning where they sent five runs across the plate and cruised to a 9-3 win over the Hoyas.
The win is Virginia's 32nd of the season, improving them to 32-8-1 overall. The Hoos' return to ACC play on Friday as they welcome NC State to Davenport Field.
