The Cavalier women's lacrosse team saw its ACC Tournament run come to an end on Friday, falling to Maryland, 15-7. The loss drops Virginia's record to 11-7.

Virginia fell behind right from the start and was unable to complete a comeback to take down the Terrapins. Kaitlin Duff scored four goals for the Cavaliers in the losing cause. Jenny Hauser added a goal and an assist, while Whitaker Hagerman and Julie Gardner each found the back of the net once as well. Senior Blair Weymouth tallied an assist.

This marks the second time that the Cavaliers have fallen to Maryland this season. The Terrapins won the regular season meeting with Virginia, 17-11. The Terps continue to tear through their schedule, as they improve to 17-0 on the season, and are the nation's second ranked team.

The Cavaliers earned the right to play Maryland with a 13-5 win against Virginia Tech yesterday. Maryland had a first round bye as the tournament's top seed.

Virginia now returns home and awaits an NCAA Tournament bid. The field will be announced on May 3.
