Former Cavaliers Eugene Monroe and Clint Sintim both heard their names called on the first day of the 2009 NFL Draft.
Monroe was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the 8th overall pick in the first round. He was a two-year starter for the Cavaliers and anchored an offensive line that gave up only 16 sacks on the season. Monroe was a second team All-American and winner of the Jacobs Blocking Trophy in 2008.
Sintim was taken by the New York Giants with the 45th overall pick. He had 70 total tackles in 2008 and his 11 sacks were tops in the nation by a linebacker. He was also a second team All-ACC selection this past season.
