BC No Match for Cavaliers in ACC Round One

The Virginia women's basketball team picked up where it left off during the regular season, in Thursday's ACC Tournament opener against Boston College.

The six-seed Cavaliers beat the Eagles 72-41 to advance to Friday's quarterfinals against No. 6 Maryland, the three-seed in the tournament. The Cavaliers opened Thursday's game on a 23-9 run over the game's first 12 minutes, then used another 15-2 run to start the second half.

Virginia entered the tournament after winning seven of its final 10 regular season games, including its last three.

Senior Ariana Moorer and sophomore Ataira Franklin each had 20 points and four steals for the Cavaliers.
