Bats Silent as Cavs Swept by N.C. State


The Virginia softball team dropped the final game of a three-game series against NC State, 2-0, Sunday afternoon.

Senior pitcher Melanie Mitchell only allowed four hits and recorded seven strikeouts in the complete game, but came away with the loss to fall to 13-15 on the season.

Emily Weiman struck out nine in the shutout for the Wolfpack.

The Cavaliers (18-25, 3-15 ACC) had three singles in the game from seniors Taylor Williams, Alex Skinkis and junior Karli Johnson.
