Bennett Reaches Win No. 100 as Cavs Weather 'Canes

So much for Wednesday being a "trap game" for Virginia.

The No. 11 Cavaliers ran their win streak to 12 games with a 65-40 win over Miami at John Paul Jones Arena. The win improved the 'Hoos record to 24-5 and they stayed in first place in the ACC at 15-1.

The victory also gave head coach Tony Bennett 100 career wins at the school. The win was also Virginia's school-record 17th straight at home in conference play and assured them of one of the top two seeds in next month's conference tournament.

Freshman London Perrantes had a career-high 15 points for Virginia and Malcolm Brogdon also had 15. Perrantes hit all four of his 3-point attempts.

Once again, Virginia used a big second-half flurry to bury their opponent.

Leading 27-20 at halftime, Virginia got two 3-pointers from Perrantes in the 16-5 spree after intermission. Brogdon scored four points and Akil Mitchell had a three-point play in the run, which was helped along by a scoreless string of nearly five minutes by the Hurricanes.

Virginia now awaits a de-facto ACC title game matchup with No. 4 Syracuse Saturday at JPJ. The Cavs have a one-game lead on the Orange in the league standings. Tipoff for Saturday is set for 4 p.m.
