Virginia senior point guard Jontel Evans is using the Cavaliers' 11 day break between games to rest a sore foot that kept him out of the team's most recent game against Mississippi Valley State.
Evans had surgery in October and has missed 6 games this season due to the injury. Head coach Tony Bennett says Evans is getting better, since re-aggravating his foot against Tennessee.
"After a couple days, the pain and soreness went out of his foot, so everything's progressing well, and with the finals, we'll take another X-ray.
Bennett says the team doesn't want to rush Evans back, especially with conference play beginning in less than a month.
"We'll just see every time he does a little more if he feels good without any discomfort, we'll progress him further along and keep taking the X-rays, to put him in the best spot to be healthy and again be able to sustain the whole year."
