Nate Irving had six RBIs and threw out a pair of baserunners from behind the plate as the Blue Team downed the Orange Team 8-0 in Game One of the Virginia Orange & Blue World Series.
The game was scoreless in the bottom of the sixth when Irving launched a 3-run homer to left off Kevin Doherty.
He followed that with a two-run single in the seventh to make it 5-0. He tacked on another RBI on a hit-and-run double in the ninth and Rob Amaro followed with a solo blast to make it 9-0.
Game Two is set for Monday at 6 p.m.
