The No. 14 Virginia women's lacrosse team is into the semifinal round of the ACC Tournament for the third straight year after a 7-5 win over No. 7 Duke in quarterfinal play Thursday.
The fifth-seed Wahoos will face top-seeded Maryland Friday at 1 p.m.
Virginia junior Casey Bocklet had a hat trick, all in the first half, and one day after being named first-team All-ACC, senior goalkeeper Liz Colgan stopped 10 shots in earning the victory.
The Cavaliers and Blue Devils were tied 3-3 at halftime, with all three Virginia scores coming from Bocklet.
The Wahoos went on a 3-0 run to open the half on goals from Liza Blue, Maddy Keeshan and Kelly Boyd to take a 6-3 lead. After a Duke goal made it 6-4, Virginia countered with a score from Daniela Eppler to make it 7-4 and held on from there.
